Coaching Checklist
The duties of a coach vary by level. The following check list should be used as a guide.
Any duty can be delegated to an assistant coach or team parent (see the Team
Organization Section)
Before the season starts
Attend the Draft
Get the equipment and uniforms
Mail a schedule and welcome letter
Recruit Parent Volunteers (see Team Organization)
Schedule practices
Distribute Uniforms
Distribute Schedules
During Games
Have the players ready to bat in order
Make sure the catcher is ready
Assign defensive positions
Assign a batting order
Keep the team disciplined if necessary
Employ baseball strategy
During the Season
Distribute Picnic Information (T-Ball & Coach Pitch only)
Solicit Summer Season Registrations (Cub & Midget only)
Organize the picture day (T-Ball, Coach Pitch & Machine Pitch only)
Call in scores to the Park Board (Pee Wee, Cub & Midget only)
Make sure the pitching machine gets to the next game (Machine Pitch only)
Report any irregularity to the WESAC Commissioner
After the Season
Return the equipment and unused uniforms
Return Player Evaluations (except T-Ball & Coach Pitch)
