.
Get-Acquainted with Walter Gatherings
Everyone will get an invitation to attend a gathering of 6-8 Walkerites to meet our new minister, Walter Lockhart. SPRC members are hosting and will start calling soon for the five gatherings in mid July scheduled so far. If you cant make the one you are offered first, never fear, there will be others.
Invitation to Committees to plan a Show and Tell session for Annual Retreat Sept 1-3
Since the theme of the Annual Retreat is Getting to Know You, this is an opportunity for committees to show the new pastor and all of the rest of us what your committee is doing or wants to do. Think about it. K.C. will be calling committee chairs in early July, once the new pastor is on board and can be part of the planning for the retreat.
Thanks again for your generous contributions of time and money that have kept us on budget so far this year. Please keep up your pledges this summer
Minutes
The Minutes were approved as read.
Wayne made the Trustees report. The peace pole is installed in the garden. It appears we can lease the parsonage to Simpson Housing for $1000 a month, but we need to give a commitment of two years. We will see about the utilities. We are waiting for Simpson to approve the deal. Julia reported that we dont need to do any major repairs for them.
Larry gave the pastors report. He officiated at the George Tofte Memorial Service. Larrys roast was great fun. Larry concluded, I accomplished what I set out to accomplish. He added that Eden Prairie Methodist Church has become a Reconciling Congregation by consensus.
Julia reported for the Finance Committee. Our finances look good and we may pay our apportionments in July. However, Outreach is still struggling.
Sunday July 9 the celebration will be in the park, followed by a potluck and a softball game.
Jennifer gave her staff report. She will be e-mailing a draft of the directory out in July and then sending out the corrected draft.
Paris reported that the Peace with Justice Committee has picked a new project to work on. They are going to support the workers at the Walker Nursing Home in their struggle to unionize. The committee will be involving the congregation in this endeavor.
The meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
K.C. Bretzke and Nancy Larsen
