There are two stages of victory in this effort:

1.  Getting the legislature to pass a bill to put a Constitutional
Amendment to guarantee affordable health care for all Minnesotans on the
ballot for this November election.  The legislature meets for six weeks
beginning March 1, 2006.

2.  If the measure is placed on the ballot, working to get at least 51%
of those who vote to vote yes on this Constitutional Amendment.

This campaign is happening in the state of Minnesota.  The highlight of
the campaign has been bringing groups together to work on this issue.
The groups range from labor unions to legal aide to health care
providers.  A non-profit structure has been created for this effort.
This campaign motivates me because, I believe people in this state want
to move forward.  The last four years have been spent fighting cuts.  By
allowing people to vote on this, it will be a directive to elected
officials to move forward.  Affordable health care is so important to
each of us and our families.

The campaign is working to bring more groups into the coalition.  We
are working to get Republican authors for the bill.  We are working on
lobbying efforts.  Letter writing and media campaigns as well as
fundraisers are also ongoing efforts.
One of the things about this campaign is that it has a fairly short
time line and no organizing is wasted because this si a public policy
issue that is not going to fade.
