1. A victory would be changing the chemicals that the Canadian Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroads use to keep right of ways clear of vegetation from the current practice of using poisonous herbicides (Round-up, Oust, etc) to the use of newer vinegar based herbicides.
2. Initially the campaign would focus on local urban right of ways through Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis. It could be extended to other urban and rural areas.
3. A meeting in Northeast Minneapolis organized by Mississippi Corridor Neighborhood Coalition and Southeast Como Improvement Association. At this meeting people who had been poisoned by herbicide spraying by the railroad testified about their near death experiences and the death of their pets. They also told about neighbors who did not survive. This was very powerful testimony.
4. It is exciting when a relatively small change can make life much better for many people and animals.
5. As an organic gardener I am always looking for ways to reduce pesticide and herbicide use because they cause so much sickness and death.
6. I am sure a letter writing or phone campaign is coming up soon.
