The amendment made it out of committee in the Senate and found a Republican sponsor in the House, Rep Howes. It still has to be heard by the committee chaired by Rep Fran Bradley, who opposes it.

Report on Actions

Joe Hesla, David West, Janet Court, Paul M all went door knocking last weekend.

The Rally Turn out was excellent, bolstered by a heavy turn out of the nurses, coordinated by Mary George. She sent an email to Paul M to communicate her delight in Walker’s participation; compliments all around for signage, music and the rousing lyrics by Steve Sandberg, set to "Roll Out the Barrel."

Power Map

Paris outlined on the map the representative targets for our get-busy-and-support-the-amendment-effort. Targets are both the constituents of Reps, Abler, Samuelson, Peppin, Bradley.

Action Proposals David West had created post card squares to begin the write in campaign. Committee members spent time writing them out. Linda will deliver them to the representatives tomorrow. Plans were discussed for another attempt at door knocking this weekend. Decided to pursue a campaign of emails and phone calls to the targets.

Suggestions were made to make the most of our efforts.

Kristine suggested making personal calls to people we know who have networks who share the interest, ie, other health care agencies, arts organizations, individuals. Joe suggested the most powerful and effective calls were to people we know personally. Steve S said that we should use Larry Nielsen’s contacts within the Methodist Church. Jim F suggested contacting our new minister, Walter Lockhart who has contacts in the progressive wing of the Church. Others encouraged us to use the survey to recruit more people to make phone calls. Joe H suggested submitting it to the Progressive calendar, a list serve.

Action Plan

1. make phone calls and emails to Walker people
2. make phone calls and emails to "multipliers"
3. make phone calls, emails to democrats in the representative districts.

Kristine will create rap for email and phone calls. Janet agreed to solicit people from the Walker list to make phone calls to #3. Kristine will see to getting the lists to those who sign up. Paul M will contact Walker people in Bradley’s district to make phone calls. And to use their multipliers. Jim will talk to Walter. Kristine will talk to Larry.

Steve S, Marg, David took Abler’s, Janet took Peppin, Marg took Samuelson and Kristine has Bradley until she hears from Janet where they should be distributed.

Next Mtg. 12th April 6pm for dinner, 6:30 for mtg. Hesla/Beckel’s (unless there is a conflict).
