Hey all you PWJers,
Our meeting this past Wednesday (10/18/06) was small but enjoyable and productive. This message will serve as a very informal minutes.
Joe (our host), Kristine and myself enjoyed good food, discussed, brainstormed, and planned. The overall question we were focusing on, in my view, was this:
How can we at Walker move UMC members and leaders to push Walker Methodist Health Center, and its parent nonprofit corporation, Walker Methodist, Inc., toward embracing the Methodist Social Principles, specifically the right of workers to form unions, including their own employees?
Our consensus for next steps was: it's time to invite Walter back again, specifically to our next meeting, the better to pick his brain about the Annual Conference's (i.e. Minnesota Methodism's) internal politics. Then we'll be prepared to make well-grounded and well-informed plans, including at this next meeting.
To this end, we'll meet:
- Saturday, October 28
- 1-3 p.m. (no potluck is planned beforehand)
- at Walker in L'orange Underground Gallery (formerly the Lounge)
Walter will be there at 1:30 (after we've checked in, etc.)
I sincerely hope you can join us. Let's see what kind of difference we can make for workers and their families!
Love, Paul
