GAY MEN’s CHORUS DEC. 9,10,11
I just want to share with you and the network what I think is going to be a wonderful holiday show. My wife, Kay, and I attended the Director's Prelude for the TCGMC holiday show Sunday afternoon. This performance will kick off their 25th anniversary season and it is really going to be spectacular. The theme is SOULstice: Holiday Music That's Good For Your Soul. It will be a mixture of traditional holiday music, specially composed music for this show by a renown composer, Stephen Paulus, and other traditional favorites. They will have a sizeable orchestra accompanying them.
The program is:
ACT I
Triumphant Light: Fanfare and Hymn for the Winter Solstice
Undying Music
Eclogue-A SOULstice Reflection
Amor de mi Alma
This Winter's Night
Christmas Trilogy- 1. I saw Three Ships, 2. What Child is This?, and 3. God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen
Magnificat
ACT II
Christmas at Court, Book II, Movement III- Christmas on Broadway
Hallelujah Chorus from a Soulful Celebration
23rd Psalm
Gloria
I think it is going to be a fantastic performance and I hope you are able to attend. The dates are Friday, December 9 at 8:00pm, Saturday, December 10 at 8pm, and Sunday, December 11 at 2pm. All performances are at the Ted Mann Concert Hall on the West Bank of the University of Minnesota. The Saturday performance is almost sold out so the better seats are available for the Friday or Sunday shows.
This year promises to be so exciting that season subscriptions are already up nearly 20%.
The Chorus is going to perform a couple of songs Sunday at the 9:30 service at Hennepin Avenue Methodist Church.
